Bill Nye not so much the science guy

So after I watched this video part of my childhood was shattered. I have no problem with teaching children science and i loved his show growing up (it made for a more fun day in science class rather than the normal teacher talking) but in this video he stepped over the line. If you have seen it, you know what i mean. Sean found this video a few weeks back and in our LDS perspective class, our professor Dr. Gantt made a facebopk page where Sean posted this video.
After watching the video I was fuming and extremely frustrated. After reading Dr. Gantts list for Bill I feel my case has been settled and I would love to share his comments with you. first you must watch the video...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gHbYJfwFgOU&feature=share

Dr. Gantt- Professor at BYU My thoughts -- telegraphic in nature:

1. Bill, you may call yourself "the Science Guy," but you're really just an entertainer. You got your start doing sketch comedy in Seattle. You were funny and have good timing. You also have a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. When you say "as my old professor Carl Sagan said. . . " you make it sound like he was your mentor and you worked in his lab or something. In fact, you only really took a class from Sagan -- along with hundreds upon hundreds of other undergraduates because Dr. Sagan was famous and an entertainer (though he came to entertainment from science, not the other way around like you).

2. Enough with the ad hominem attacks. I'll stop now. After all, they don't discredit your position, but they do help provide some context to evaluate your expertise.

3. The video title makes mention of creationism, but Nye never uses the term. In fact, I'm not sure what version of "creationism" he is actually criticizing here. There are a number of positions on the market that get loosely lumped together as “creationism” but which are very different perspectives. Heck, sometimes knuckleheads like Richard Dawkins and Daniel Dennett accuse theistic evolutionists of being creationists. The word has become a slur more than anything else.

4. Heck, while we’re at it, I'm not even sure what version of evolution he is championing here. There are different things that that one word "evolution" might refer to and the only one that most religious folks would object to is the one whereby it is claimed that the only matter exists and that life in all its forms is nothing more than the unintended, purposeless product of random, material, non-rational, algorithmic processes.

5. All in all, Bill, you are engaging in a form of straw man argument here, attacking a position that almost nobody, or at least no serious person, actually endorses.

6. There seems to be an inherent contradiction in Nye’s argument: If religion (i.e., any belief in a creator god) is as toxic to critical thinking and scientific progress as he claims – thus necessitating insulating children from religion so as to ensure a rising generation of critical thinkers and science buffs -- then how exactly is it that the United States ever achieved its status as the most advanced technological nation on earth? Wouldn’t the creationist tendencies of its religious populace have prohibited that from ever happening in the first place? Come on Bill, you may be the “Science Guy,” but you’re definitely failing at being the “Logic Guy.”

7. You may be right that evolution is the fundamental idea in all of life science, in all of biology. I am willing to grant that your claim may be true. Oddly, however, the history of science is littered with theories that were fundamental ideas and nearly universally accepted but which later turned out to be dead wrong. Indeed, in almost every case it was the universal and dogmatic adherence to such ideas by scientists that was most often what inhibited intellectual and technological progress, not the belief in a Creator God. Heck, it was belief in a rational Creator God in Western Christianity in the middle ages that gave rise to science in the first place. Odd thing that, wouldn’t you agree, Bill?

8. As far as having to believe in evolution – again, I’m not sure which version we are talking about here, so I’ll just assume the most radical (and intellectually problematic) version that is endorsed by some of your high profile science friends (e.g., Carl Sagan, Richard Dawkins, Eugenie Scott, etc.) – in order to life science, I’m not convinced. You may be right, but before I concede the point, I’d like you to show me what branch of empirical research in science, what avenue of investigation, what set of experiments, would cease were we to abandon naturalism and reject the possibility of God? I have asked a large number of biology PhDs this question – assuming them to know more about the matter than folks with Bachelor’s degrees in mechanical engineering (oops, another ad hominem . . . sorry), but not one of them has ever been able to point to any specific line of research that would come to an end were the tenets of naturalistic evolution to be abandoned. I think that the reason is that naturalism is a philosophical approach to explanation, not a requirement of scientific investigation.
9. Small point here about the history of geology. The theory of plate tectonics is of relatively recent origin. There were geologists long before that theory was developed. It’s a better theory than the previous ones – and likely to be worse than later ones waiting to be formulated in the future – but you can do geology without the theory of plate tectonics. Your answers might be muddled, but you can do it and you can progress. Just because Neo-Darwinism is in the vogue right now in the life sciences that does not mean it is a fact, will never be overturned, or that biology must cease in the absence of such a theory. Remember that it was once widely held – for hundreds of years – that Newtonian theory was fundamental to physics. That all changed, though, when a little German dude named Albert Einstein came along. If anybody deserves to be called “the Science Guy” it is him. (Uh-oh, another ad hominem . . . sorry again.)

10. “Your whole world is just going to be a mystery instead of an exciting place” if you don’t endorse evolutionary naturalism? Are you serious?! Again, there seems to be an inherent contradiction in your claim here, Bill. On the one hand, you claim that believing in “creationism” (again, whatever that might actually mean) leads to a world of mystery and boredom, while belief in evolutionary naturalism leads to excitement and wonder. However, you claim that in believing creationism means that the world is “fantastically complicated” and “mysterious.” But how can a world that is fantastically complicated and mysterious be a boring one in which to live, to explore, and to study? The evolutionary tale is one in which the operations of the world are held to be simple, mechanical, basic, and scrutible. Wouldn’t that actually imply that living in such a world would be boring, dull, pointless, and tedious? I mean, Bill, you already have everything figured out and what you know about the origin of everything and the operations of all things is that nothing means anything, natural selection is just grinding away with no thought for us and no purpose in mind, and that no matter what empirical phenomenon we happen to discover it’s really just one more instance of the same old, same old process of random selection and mindless natural process. I think you are seriously confused about what it takes for a universe to be exciting, Bill. What could be more enervating and exciting than trying to probe the mind of God, to understand how he operates in the natural world, and the ways and means by which he brings to pass the wonderments of all that is, unfolding before our eyes. I sometimes wonder, Bill, if – to paraphrase the question of an old Jewish Rabbi – your ears have heard what your mouth hath spoken.

11. Overall, Bill, you’re beating up on a straw man here. (At least as egregious a sin as leveling ad hominem attacks, wouldn’t you agree?) While there may be some ignorant folks out there who really believe in a creation that occurred in a literal a seven 24 hour period, or that the Devil placed the fossils in the dirt to deceive us, such folks are not a threat to science or science education in this country. They have quirky and difficult to defend religious beliefs based on a sloppy misreading of scripture. They are to be pitied and tolerated. In an important way, however, they are just the flipside of a coin that sports your own picture on its reverse. They are as unimaginative and uniformed and dogmatic as you and your evolutionist colleagues are. The people you need to engage and whose arguments you need to address do not believe in either the anti-intellectual creationist nonsense or your own overly simplistic material reductionism. Stop pretending that there are only two positions to be taken on these important issues. You just need to get out of the studio more, Bill. Talk with some real people once in a while, rather than just talking to a camera.

12. I could go on, but I won’t. I will close with just one or two more quick questions. First, what empirical evidence do you have, Bill, for the validity (evolutionary or otherwise) of the sweeping moral and ethical vision you are advocating here? What is it about you knowledge of evolutionary theory that warrants you telling parents how to raise their children – especially parents who tend to produce more offspring that atheistic naturalists such as yourself? Isn’t evolution actually selecting for such beings? Why bother them or interfere with their families then?

13. You are right that we do need scientifically literate voters and taxpayers for the future. We do need engineers who can build stuff. However, why must “scientifically literate” mean “committed to atheism and evolutionary naturalism”? Newton was committed to neither of those things. Does that mean, then, that he was scientifically illiterate? Same goes for Robert Boyle, Rene Descartes, Michael Polanyi, Galileo, Michael Faraday, Gregor Mendel, Lord Kelvin, Copernicus, Max Planck, John Barrow, and biologists such as Kenneth Miller, Francis Collins, Sewall Wright, etc. Were they also scientifically illiterate? Perhaps you could ask them to stop admiring their Nobel Prizes long enough to take a lesson or two on science from you. I’m sure they would be deeply impressed with you BS in mechanical engineering.

14. Finally, of course, there is no “evidence” for the existence or actions of a Creator God, especially when you only count as evidence those things that fit neatly into a narrowed down naturalistic framework of investigation and explanation. As long as you get to define evidence as only those things that support a naturalistic worldview in which evolution – as a mindless, purposeless, algorithmic process – operates, then of course there never is (nor ever can be) any evidence for any other worldview. You’ve ruled any such evidence out of bounds from the very beginning, then feign exasperation that those who disagree with you can’t provide the kind of evidence you won’t accept. In Las Vegas this is called “playing with loaded dice” and is usually a prosecutable crime. In science, however, is just seen as being foolish and unjustified and, most importantly, unscientific. Indeed, most would say that stacking the intellectual deck against falsification in the way you and your compatriots so often do is a sign not of genuine science, but of a deep faith in a set of dogmatic religious principles. Bill Nye, the “Dogmatic Religion Guy.” Doesn’t really roll of the tongue, but it certainly seems more accurate.

Hope this was of interest to you!
Take care

I am going there someday....

Saturday I will be going to the temple to receive my endowments. What a special time. I am so excited to go and make this amazing step in my life. The temple is so beautiful and I will be able to see so much more of it then just the baptism font. I will be able to do so much more for the Lord. I wil be able to grow closer to my Father in heaven. I am nervous a little i have to admit, but I know that i will have my mother and my sweetheart with me by my side the whole time. NOt only is it a special day for me but it is also the anniversary of my parents-in-law, sister and brother-in-law, and the day my sister-in-law received her endowments as well. Big day. I am so so excited. I have been preparing but I hope I will be ready. I love the Lord. I have a testimony. I know the church and its temple are true. I guess that is all I really need. The temple is so beautiful. I am so blessed that I will be able to be married and sealed in it a week after I go into it. One of my favorite primary songs from when I was young goes... I love to see the temple, I am going there some day. That day is almost here and I have been waiting for it since I sang that song. LOVE

Almost there!!!

This countdown is killing me really... 2 1/2 more weeks 18 more days and then hours and seconds which i try not to look at because they are making me so antsy Engagement pictures as well as bridal pictures (a little early posted) are up on facebook if you want a look. It has been so crazy. so much to do. Sean and I are trying to find some sweet moments in the chaos. a little kiss in the corner. a surprise treat. a whisper in my ear of "I love you". a prayer together before we say goodnight. a jump into his arms when i see him for the first time that day. the little things..... they help me remember how much i love him and how excited i really am for August 18th. It seems i have been dreading it lately when i have no sleep, being asked to do a million things for everyone, working full time, and trying to get everything that I can done in the few hours i have. Tomorrow we can start to move into our new home. I am so even beyond excited!!!! It will also be nice to get some of my overwhelming crap out of my tiny apartment. I feel so bad that I have taken up every unclaimed space for my wedding stuff. Two words. Fridge Space. :D Oh i have found a new snack to get me through my day at work. Teddy Grams used to scoop nutella and if i am lucky a strawberry to stick it on. Delicious! well i have paper cranes to fold so... take care.

What a week!

Last week was pure madness. Sean and I were exhausted and still trying to recover from it all. We had his family reunion, invitations to get done, and fitting in as many work hours as possible. Yeah i was pooped and rounding corners in the car to things so we could get invitations done as fast as we could. We have most of them done now but we are still trying to get them out. only three more weeks left! The family reunion was a blast! HIs family is truly amazing. The first day we worked in the morning and then went to Lagoon! I have not been since before i can remember. After we went to my aunts house to wedding plan and in the end we had only eaten one meal that morning and we got to bed around 3am. Next morning I was called into work and after i could get off we went to go pick up pictures for our invites and worked on them on our way to SLC for some more family time at the new mall and then a bbq at Sean's grandparents. Sean had to go back to work that evening and so i stayed home and worked on wedding invites all night. next day we gave a tour of byu to his family and then i worked for a couple hours until the lab closed. After that I was able to meet with my old roomie Josie!! She just finished her semester at BYUI and was down here for a day.We went to lunch, got some delicious Asian food and caught up on everything. Next we stopped at Omi's (my grandmothers house) to get some stuff from my mom (my parents are living the the apartment in her house and taking care of her). Mom and I dropped off Josie and then after picking up Sean we went up to Alpine to meet my aunt at the reception house to plan the wedding. Things are looking good. I am glad she is taking over the details and i can trust her. I was able to show my new family (the girls at least) my wedding dress. It was fun and they are all super excited. :) my new brother Ryan had a seizure which was a scary scene since I have never seen him have one as bad as this time. He was breathing in a way that sounded like loud snoring and after Sean and his brother started giving Ryan a priesthood blessing it imminently calmed down and by the end of the blessing he was conscious again. The priesthood power is real power from the Lord and what a blessing it is to be a part of this church where we are able to have it. I am so grateful and I am so super excited to be marrying a man who is worthy and holds that priesthood power. Until next time Take care oh and yesterday I spent most of the day inside at grandmas making ties for the wedding. It was almost enough to drive me completely crazy. The best part of the whole day was taking a walk with Sean and my aunt Susan in the warm summer Rain.

So close to Forever

Only one more month left to go before I am married to Sean for eternity!!! I am so super excited! Things are crazy trying to get everything ready. Right now is crunch time for the planning. We have invitations to get out this week and they are getting printed today so lots of putting them together in the next few days. We will be at Sean's family reunion so am guessing I will be getting little sleep. lots and lots to do. you dont even realize how many little details you have to put a lot of thought and planning into. right now i am trying to find envelopes and melt away mints for the cheapest price but still quality. its a real pain.but i have a sweet Man who helps take care of me when i am a stressed out mess. Lots to do but I am so excited to have Sean forever! 31 more days!!!! what an intense countdown. I went to the last temple prep class and I am so super excited to enter the temple, receive my endowments, and then get sealed to the man i love for eternity. What blessings i have in my life. I am so grateful for all of them and right now i am especially grateful to all those who are helping with the wedding. BAH!!!! one MONTH!!! :) Beyond excited! 7 months since i met Sean. 7 months my life has completely changed, 7 months seems like 7 years. I love SEAN!!! Take care! ANa

Hunger Games Wedding

NO i am not having a HUnger Games themed wedding. I did however find out today that the HUnger Games movie is released on DVD the same day i get married. I am trying to find something comical in this but keep coming up with random thoughts of bread and berries that will ironically be served at my reception. With the plan to put birds on things, more and more these two events happening on the 18th may not be pure coincidence. Maybe I am meant to hide away in a cave with Sean and give him kisses for food.....not such a bad plan. Thinking about it more thats basically what we will be doing during our honeymoon. Maybe Sean just needs to throw burnt bread at me. I guess only time will tell. May the odds ever be in our favor! (for eternity) Take care!

The Temple

In exactly one month from today I will be entering the Holy Temple and receiving my endowments. I am so excited to for this sacred and wonderful promise that will bring me closer to my Heavenly Father. What an amazing time for me. I am so blessed in my life. I am so grateful for the gospel in my life and the blessings it brings. I am so grateful for Sean, my love, my best friend, my everlasting rock. One month. One month and a week Until I am married. life is good. no. life is great. Take care, Ana

Coming together

Yes this is true. things are finally coming together! Only a few moments ago Sean and I officially decided where we are going to be living together! Woot!!! Big decision made. We will be at Centennial apartments right by 7 peaks water park. It is on the other side of Campus which is a bummer but once we get a car it wont be so bad. Our other choice was right next to Macey's which was a super good location but unfortunately they couldn't match up to what we were looking for. Yesterday was also another big day. We took engagement pictures!!! it was really last min but it was with Sean's brother Steve's really good friend. We had a blast and got some super fun pictures that will be what we were looking for. I am really happy with how things went. Steve will even now do the wedding video for us since his friend is the photographer and they wont be battling for shots which he hates. We went to this completely amazing park place near Draper ( i think) where they had an area like a regular park with benches and a playground, but then they also had farm animals, gardens, a house, creeks, wild brush, and more random little things that were a treasure to stumble upon. Now it is time to look for a car, get my dress/ his suit/ my clothes altered, and get my wisdom teeth out. Yeah I need to get them out. Specifically one. It has been poking out and creating a crater in my cheek. It is painful to brush my teeth, yawn, and eat. You can see that when i am eating something and its hard I am pulling out my cheek so i am not chewing on it with my food. Its kind of a funny site. Well more to come later. Take care!

Monday, July 2, 2012

So it has been a very long time since i have written anything. This is due to a combination of pure laziness, forgetfulness, and an irrational fear. Its seems to me that many times when I try to write down stories, especially ones about boys, i can hardly finish them because this irrational fear. A fear that if i finish the story, my real life story will finish as well. It is silly really. i even have not finished writing about Sean and my first two weeks together which were truly wonderful. And then I get backed up on writing in my journal and I stop writing in my journal altogether until i realize how i need to get back on track. here is my attempt to start doing just that. Sean and I have been busy bodies this summer and it took until only a couple weeks ago to really realize it is summer. It is crazy because my summer last year was so different and basically epic that this one seems to not have started yet. Summer seems to be missing and i have been trying to get it started with more pool visits, hiking, and ice cream. Still i have a long way to go. I need to kick start this summer with some traveling, hiking, camping, more ice cream/shaved ice, sun soaking, zoos, outside games, picnics, music, and parks. I have also been lacking on taking pictures. Wedding updates: I have my dress. It is beautiful and I get an amazing deal on it. I am waiting for it to get altered a bit and then cleaned and I can finally take it home! Sean and I are really trying to get our invites out but we have a problem with our engagement shoot which did not come out the way we wanted and we are not in a dilemma trying to get some good pictures to use. yeah so they are getting out a lot later than i was hoping but we still have some time. only 46 more days!!!! my last 6 weeks of being single. this really hit me this morning. 46 days and my life will never be the same. i am going to miss some things from the single life. going out with friends, roommates, single wards, game nights, flirting, traveling or doing things on a whim (i am really good at this) and such things. Married life will be great and I am super excited for it but it is all new. I know this kind of life so its a little sad and scary. I am glad i will have Sean with me the whole way. Another thing that is a pain is trying to find a place to live! it was so simple and cheap before but now we are looking for a place of our own. it is a lot more money that is for sure. I cant wait for my own kitchen though. :) so excited!!! I guess this is good for now. i dont want to overwhelm with months worth of writing. until next time (hopefully tomorrow if i am good) take care, ana

I am getting Married!!!!!

Hey so iam Engaged!!!! :) here is the story. pictures to follow later! Yesterday morning we planned to go to the Tulip festival at thanksgiving point with Seans sister and her girls. I thought it was going to happen then since it was a beautiful place and it was a great opportunity. He set it up to seem like he was going to propose there but he was just being a punk and i was mad at him for that. I had to work most the day but Sean asked me to go to a movie night at his friend Chris's house after work. Diana (the sister of Alyssa who used to be my roommate, and it was her mission farewell that i went to and first met Sean) texted me asking if we could go to her house and pick something up so Sean and i decided to stop there first before we went to the movie since they were in the same neighborhood. In the car i was playing one of my old cds i made so it had random songs like the jonas brothers and disney on it. When we pulled up we were singing to Hakuna matata from the Lion king and just having fun. As we walked to their house Sean just opened the front door and I was thinking "what are you doing? you cant do that, maybe since they are cousins its ok?". When we walked inside right where we first met he had set up the things and set us we used for our second date, our classy sweater photoshoot which was 4 months ago to the day. I was so confused noticing things but nothing clicking together. Sean had to asked me if i recognized it and tell me it was from that date. I realized that this was probably him proposing but i still didnt fully realize it.He had me sit in the chair and take some pictures with the stuff. First a picture frame and then the little stuffed dog we used last time. I saw some flashes from the other room under the piano and thats when it really hit me that he was proposing (it turned out to be our friend Brynne). This is the point where the tears started to flow uncontrollably. He sat next to me and told me that he loved me and wanted to be with me forever and then he got down on one knee, took the dog (which i didnt even notice and Sean was surprised i didnt) who had the ring tied around its neck, untied it and asked me to marry him. It was a big surprise that i didnt think he would pull off but he totally did and it was wonderful!!! I am so extremely happy and giddy. i love my beautiful ring and my amazing finace!!!! We are planning fir August 18th in the Timpanogos temple. Take Care!!!

Roommates

I love my current roommates. yes i love my old ones especially my 314 girls and Alyssa but now that they are gone i was terrified i would get some unlivable bunch of freshmen or something. The first week of the semester was one where i was sure this nightmare had come true. I didnt really talk to any of them and my room roommate Hailee had a huge knife in her top drawer.

well after i left and came back that first weekend (utah) i discovered that people had actually talked and become ....friends. wow! and BOOM just like that all my roommates were awesome and we became great friends! it had been a blast and delight to live with these fun and crazy young women. each one of us is unique but we have a blend of craziness that makes any time together a memorable one. I love these girls.

We took some roommate photos with the help my my good friend Tyler Minetto, with my snazzy new camera thank you toddie. I hope you enjoy them!

ps the funny face one is the best! hailee looks like she will eat your soul! :)
take care!

and they have done it again!

ok go is a great band that i first herd of in a talk given by this lady at a youth conference. it was a great talk about dating, and the song she used....a million ways to be cruel.
from then on I listened to ok go. i was a fan. they have such great and epic music videos and this one is another insanely awesome one to add to the list.
watch and enjoy and make sure you be careful because this is really a large exposure to pure awesomeness!

classy sweaters

pictures with my kiddos

Since I have been back on US soil

It has been a crazy few last weeks.
I will do my best to just highlight and not drone on and on. i dont even have time for that!
see right now i want to take a nap since i might have strep throat thanks to my amazing Sean but I have so many little things i need to get done and I wont be able to fall asleep if i am worried about them so here it goes....

When i got back into US boundaries i just about cried. Looking out of the plane and seeing my homeland. (i give tons of props to my mommy who left hers to have a family) Now after I landed in Chicago and waited in the HUGE lines to get through customs and the line for my baggage that was sliced open on the side with the handles torn off and had this irritable lady make me make my carry on fit smoothly into the basket I was not missing it so much.
but it was great to be back and talk to my dad all the way to my grandmas house.
I had one day and then after that I was off with Chelsea and Jill to Rexburg for an amazing weekend with old friends and the campus i love. We went to three wedding receptions on the way home and then stayed the night at my uncles house in Salt Lake. The next morning we dropped off Chelsea at the airport and then me in Lindon to go to Alyssas mission farewell. it was such a good meeting and i was crying.

After we went to her house for a little "open house" where i met tons of her family and friends. I hung out with Diana basically the whole time which of course was tons of fun. I also met Sean there. Now this boy is Alyssas moms cousin but he is 22 so our age. i talked to him quite a bit and he got my number. Alyssa and Diana were super excited that Sean and I hit it off.

My sisters got in to Provo in the next couple of days with my mom. So good to see everyone after so long!
I went to a game night at Seans house with A and D which was so much fun! We played a bunch of games including Norwegian Twister which got us comfortable really fast. My dad rented a super nice room at this Swedish resort in Heber for a couple nights. Before we went up that morning Sean and I went on a date to the BYU art museum which i loved because i love the art and i get to know him a lot more. The resort was gerat and we got some good family time in. They had an indoor pool and hot tub with a waterfall which was super nice. IT was a ligit place.

Christmas was good. My sisters got trapped in the room after church because for some reason the the door knob broke and would not let them out. it was good times and eventually they were freed.

The next day Sean and I had a date. we found out we both had awesome sweaters so he planned to do a photo shoot in our awesome sweaters. We got some props (i got some from Omi) and we went to a duck pond and had elina be our photographer. It was great fun but it looks like engagement pictures which makes it even funnier. they really did turn out great.
Then Elina went shopping with EMi and Sean and I got Panda express and watched Kung Fu Panda! I told him i always wanted to do that so we did it! i was happy.

that whole week we hung out every day pretty much all day.
he spent a lot of time with my family lol we even went to the Springville art museum with them which was fun. Anyways i will wrap that week up. great week with my family and Sean
We spent a night in a lodge where my dad invited a bunch of family and i took sean. it was in aspen grove and there was only a bit of snow. we had fun going on a walk and then playing games with everyone. Skipbo with Omi was the highlight really. It was also super fun watching Princess Bride with my family. We also found a little nook and Elina Sean and I read Hunger games there.

I made a Turkish Dinner for everyone one night which i was stressed and worried about since it did not taste like i wanted it to taste (my first time making Turkish food so of course it didnt taste the same) but everyone liked it.

I spent new years eve with Sean and that was so much fun. all his nieces were there and they loved me! i got to play with kids agaiN! little lucy who normally does not like people kept coming up to me and cuddling with me. Sean was jealous :)
I had to say goodbye to Alyssa before i left to school which was super sad. I hate goodbyes. I had to say goodbye to my family too. :(

Now i am at school and so far its pretty good. Classes are a lot of work/readings but are super interesting for the most part. I even have two classes in a row with Tyler M!!! Love that kid! we are going to have a blast making up a goofy religion for our sociology of religion class.

My apartment is crappy but the more i get to know my roommates the more i like them. I was freaking out at frist because my room roommate put a 12in kitchen knife in her top drawer. it was funny because she thought it would freak me out being on the desk after she was using it as scissors and put it in the drawer to not freak me out but that was so much worse! haha we had a good laugh about that.

I also got to see Jeff fafa this week who is back from his mission!! :) cool kid jeff. he is blind so they wouldnt let him go on a mission at first but then they figured out a way and he went to SLC.
I also got to hang out a couple times with Tanae and her hubby! man i missed her! we had a blast getting horchata, visiting jeff, and going to DI.

Tyler was going to Utah this weekend so i went down with him. It was a great weekend with Sean and staying with Chelsea! We also made pizzas and tyler came. we jsut had so much fun together. but be warned the movie "something borrowed" is a terrible movie. I kept watching because it had to get better at some point but it didnt and the ending was the worst!
anyways great time. I got to see Sean teach his mission prep class which was really good. great weekend. only he found out yesterday that he has strep throat from his dad and i have been with him all weekend....i am going to be drinking a lot of juice and taking my vitamins!

ok iwill post some pics too! take care!!!

Boxes of joy

ok cool story now. this shows God really does love me :) not like i didnt know before but really its awesome. so Hailee (my new roommate) got home yesterday and said she had some good news for me. Turns out that there was a girl in her class with the last name Bushman. Another girl came up to her and asked if she had a sister named Ana Bushman. The girl said she did but she graduated from BYUI 7 years ago. Hailee hears this and she jumps in that she has a roommate named Ana Bushman. Well the girl lives in Brooklyn 306 and said that Ana BUshman has a couple boxes that have been there for about a year! So i went over last night and they were my old boxes that for some reason no one threw away!!! they were full of my scriptures, movies, all my scrapbooking stuff, and decorations!!!!!!! i was so happy! i thought it was all in Utah in storage but turns out i left it there. Chelsea was supposed to tell me i guess but she never did but i was amazed that even through the summer break they didnt throw it away!!!! Brooklyn usually throws stuff away too so it is such a miracle!!!!!! I am so blessed i really am. That saved me so much grief especially after I lost a bunch of stuff including most of my jewelry in Turkey.
What a great thing. I made sure to say many thanks in my Prayers last night.
